Orlando-based Voxeo enlisted the help of construction company Interstruct to provide a ramp and bath rails for an elderly couple who came to their attention during their Christmas gift drive. The wife suffered a stroke several years ago, leaving her wheelchair-bound. For years the husband and a neighbor had to lift her and her chair over a six-inch step each time she needed to leave the house. With just a simple fix from these two companies, the quality of life for this couple has increased immensely.
Every year Perkins Restaurants puts up Christmas trees with tags which contain the name and gift suggestion for an elderly and/ or disabled adult in the community who otherwise would not receive any presents for Christmas. For the past five years, DCF Circuit 20 has been invited to participate by providing a list of names and suggestions for gifts. Just before Christmas DCF counselors pick up the gifts, sort and deliver to clients' homes. Our clients are always thrilled and the counselors enjoy the delivery.
